We have recently lowered the cost of our raw shells due to our relationship with a local supplier who is able to provide us with most of the wood species we offer at a reduced cost to us!  This also precludes importing costs to Artisan Drumworks.  We are pleased to pass these savings on to our customers. 

If you are interested in building your own snare drum or drum set, we offer our handcrafted stave drum shells for snare drums, bass drums, and tom toms.  Our stave shell design optimizes tonal quality allowing more of the sound and character of the wood to be heard. Bearing edges are also tougher, longer lasting and facilitate the free flow of sound discussed in detail on our “Why Stave”page.  Drum shells can be ordered in your choice of wood species, diameter, length and shell thickness. We do not recommend less than 3/8” in thickness, unless we apply our EdgeCraft Integral Reinforcement Ring (IRR).  Shells come sanded, ready for finishing.  If you desire, we can also cut the bearing edges to your desired profile, snare beds, and even pre-drill the shell to fit your hardware, including drilling required for bass drum legs, tom support system, snare drum strainer and butt plate.   Artisan Drumworks’ finishes are available for those who want a shell ready for assembly.   Please see custom options below.
